OK so even though I play soooo many different styles, I'm sure loads you will know the common thread through everything I do is the 303 (Phuture/Armando anyone?). If however you dont know, this is ACID MUSIC! A sound that was created in 1988 after a company called Roland created a synthesiser called a TB-303, to re-create the tones of a bass guitar. But musicians soon found a way to exploit it, to make crazy, crazy noises that it was not intended for.
It began in 88 in Chicago, but it soon expanded - artists such as Woody McBride, Freddie Fresh, Biochip C used it to create techno music. It subsequently appeared in every single electronic music genre you can imagine! Yup, you might ask me why my whole life has been devoted to this sound - but you only need to listen to this mix for the answer! ACIEEEEDDDDD!!!
This link is a PA from my good friend Mark Hawkins (all the tracks are made by him), and it blew my head off. If you love the sound of the Roland TB-303, this is the fix you were waiting for. If you don't know, then listen and learn. Please, music producers everywhere, whatever style you're into, make some more music like this!
